The Castle of Torija, in the province of Guadalajara, was founded by the order of the Knights Templars in the 12th century to secure the border against the Muslim kingdoms. Its current appearance, of a square plant and Renaissance style, comes from the reforms carried out during the 15th century.
This set, including 152 pieces, will allow you to recreate one of the most emblematic fortresses of Castilla-La Mancha. It comes with a detailed mounting manual, designed for you to enjoy the construction process easily and entertainingly.
The Castle of Torija was the scene of numerous battles until the end of the Middle Ages, being contested by Spanish, Aragones and Navarros due to its strategic location. Even during the War of Independence in the nineteenth century, the castle was occupied by guerrilla troops Juan Martín Díez, the Empecinado, to stop the advance of the French troops.
Today, restored throughout the 20th century, it houses a museum dedicated to the province of Guadalajara and the region of La Alcarria, being the Castle of Torija its main sentry.
